Addison is One Month

Addison turned 1 month old on November 2nd!  Her first month went by so quickly and we have loved adding her to our family.  Jeramy and I were talking about how it seems like she has been here much longer than a month.  Addison is just so precious and such a great baby.  Life with two has been just wonderful.  Here is some info about her first month of life:

  • She is a snuggly, sleepy baby.  For the first few weeks I had to wake her up during the day to feed her.  She did get better about having more awake time and started waking up on her own.  I love just holding her when I have the time, and she loves it too.   But she has also gotten good at sleeping in her crib at night and she likes to sleep in the swing, bouncer, and car seat too.
  • During the day she is up about every 3 hours to eat.  She has also turned into a good nighttime sleeper.  The first few weeks were a little rough and she wanted to be held all night and didn't really like sleeping for very long stretches.  But, she got better in week 3 about sleeping in her crib and for longer stretches, and in week 4 she has started sleeping for about a 5 hour stretch at night!
  • She eats great, about every 3 hours and is already growing like a weed. :)  Has not been introduced to a bottle yet, but we plan to do that next month
  • On our scale at home she is up to 10 pounds, 4 ounces.  Big girl!!
  • In newborn and size 3 month clothes, and size 1 diapers.
  • We have gotten so many different comments on who Addison looks like.  Some people say she looks exactly like me and a lot like Sophia.  I've gotten many comments that she resembles Jeramy and I've also gotten comments that she looks like my mom!  I guess time will tell but most likely she is a mixture of all of us. :)
  • The first thing everyone says when they see her is "wow, look at that hair!".  And it is true, she has a ton of dark, pretty, crazy, long hair.  Sophia was born with a lot of dark hair also, but Addison has more!  And it is funny how it sticks up all over the place.
  • Addison loves being held, looking at lights and fans, being swaddled, and feeling cozy.

Happy Halloween!

We had such a great Halloween this year!  It is so much more fun experiencing it with a toddler.  Sophia loved dressing up (in all 3 of her costumes!!) and all of the festivities!  I am looking forward to next year when both Sophia and Addison will be able to trick-or-treat. :)

In her cute Cinderella costume before the Trunk-or-Treat at school!
Sophia's class dressed as crayons for the Halloween parade.  So cute!
Our cute orange crayon :)
I had to take a picture of the "jailbirds"...so funny.
Eating her snack at the party
Such cute kiddos
Dressed as Minnie Mouse for our neighborhood festival and trick-or-treating
She LOVED the petting zoo!!
She loves all animals.

And also loved the pony rides!
We did not think she would care to trick-or-treat much so we gave her this small bucket.  She loved it and ended up filling up her bucket!  I guess she will need a something bigger next year. :)
Jeramy, Sophia and I had so much fun this year...we loved seeing how much fun she had!  Happy Halloween!!

First weeks with Addison

Our first 3 weeks with Addison could not have gone better!  She barely cries, and sleeps and eats great...what more could we ask for!  She eats about 8 times a day but does give me a few longer stretches at night.  She is also just a super sweet baby!  Everyone around here is adjusting great including big sister Sophia.  She loves to talk about the baby and look at baby sister, and even help with baby sister, but doesn't really hold or touch her much...which is fine by me because she is kind of rough.  Don't get me wrong, we have had to figure out how to give both Addison and Sophia enough attention, but it has definitely gone better than we expected!  We have had such a great first few weeks with our sweet girls.

Sophia turns TWO!

Sophia had her 2 year check up on September 20th and I am only a month behind in posting about it. :)  Her pediatrician says she is doing great and right on track with everything...yeah!  I love to hear that!  She did not need any shots at this appointment, but we went ahead and got her the flu shot.  She did fine...no crying.  Her stats weren't that surprising...we knew she didn't weigh much, but she is taller than I thought!  Here she is in comparison to last year.

1 Year Stats:

  • Weight: 20 pounds 4 ounces (25-50%)
  • Height: 2 feet 5 inches (25-50%)
  • Head: 18 inches (50-75%)
2 Year Stats:

  • Weight: 25 pounds 13 ounces (45%)
  • Height: 2 feet 11 inches (85%)
  • Head: 18 1/2 inches (55%)

One thing I have not yet posted about is Sophia being potty trained!  We started working on it around 22 months, just becoming familiar with the potty.  Once she was okay sitting on it she started using it every night before her bath.  I was shocked that she would use it on command.  Around 23 months we thought we might as well try to potty train her with Addison arriving soon. We planned on doing the 3 day method and then sending her to daycare after that hoping they would continue, and they were on board.  Then we changed our mind and did not do the 3 day method...we did not want to rush it.  But daycare started taking her to the potty like we had talked about that following Monday and we got reports that she did great and did not have any accidents!  We had already bought panties so we switched from diapers to panties and Sophia made the switch really easily.  She had some accidents the first month, only at home - she rarely ever has accidents at daycare.  But now at 25 months she has gotten to the point where she even tells us when she has to go...it is so great!  She still wears a diaper at nap time and at night time.  Also, she has never pooped in the potty, only in her diaper.  We talk about going poop in the potty, but she won't do it yet.  We are happy with her progress so far, though!

At 2 years old Sophia is a super sweet little girl...she is very loving and always gives hugs and kisses.  She kisses everyone, including Abby and her babies before she goes night night.  She started loving baby dolls right around her birthday - she feeds them, changes them, loves her stroller, etc.  She is also very high energy and full speed almost all the time.  She runs, not walks, everywhere she goes...and is very loud!  Her favorite show (and the only one she will watch) is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  I'm thankful she likes some TV...but she will only watch 5 minutes or so...still, its something. :)  She loves to paint, color, read books, do puzzles and play outside on the swings and slide.  Her vocabulary has gotten so much better in the last month and we can actually understand a lot of what she is saying!  She can even say her name now.  She points at things that are hers and says "phias".  We still have a good eater and sleeper.  She sleeps from 8:30pm-7:30 or 8am and takes one nap anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.  She does not like to try new foods but most of the time if you can get her to try it, she likes it.  Oh, and yes, she has reached the terrible two's...and does the typical whining, crying, saying NO and MINE.  She is needing more discipline and we are trying to figure out what works and what does not work on her.  Oh the joys of parenting!

Here are some pictures of our 2 year old.  I love our sweet girl's smile!
